from march to september 2025, a wasteland behind vienna’s main railway station will be transformed into an artistic space: claudia bosse’s project WASTELAND dream/s – a chronicle on choreographic ground explores the transformation and fragility of urban landscapes in the anthropocene over the course of several months.
the choreography WASTEland emerges from the recurring WASTELAND dream/s over seven months and culminates with its premiere on 24 September.
everything on and with the wasteland behind the main station

in these regular work phases, ongoing choreographic and artistic gestures, performative and installative experiments are created on site. the wasteland becomes a choreographic ground in which the dialog between artists, experts, the local population and non-human actors becomes visible in performative formats. over the months, the project condenses into performances for which the site is starting point, studio, framework and condition.
the performative articulations on the wasteland dissolve the boundaries between art and everyday life, make invisible structures visible and encourage participation. they foster an understanding of public space as a designable, shared place and open up a new view of urban landscapes and their layers through the gradual transformation of the unnoticed area.
in dialog with the constantly changing terrain, a work of art forms, changes and evolves over the seasons in public space.
this leftover space in the middle of the city, framed by rails and roads, marked by facades, hotels and offices, populated by grasses, butterflies and thistles, also served as the setting for HAUNTED LANDSCAPE on an unseen wasteland in 2024.
