What creative practices and processes can the gaze generate?
What form does a dancing eye take? Does it move?
What form does an observing eye take? What are the images of our visual culture?
The second chapter of my movement research and dance practice delves deeply into the methodology of the gaze. This study culminated in an archive exploring cultural and societal understandings of the gaze, paralleled by an exploration of movement quality.
playlist is a research based on the importance of the collective view, eyes, and the point of view. The gaze theme intersects with the body as a cultural symbol marked by its era. This work examines the postural and aesthetic traits of contemporary society, influenced by social media, public spaces, and generational shifts. It also draws on the author's background in a small town in central Italy, to an independent artistic subculture of a big town. A privileged point of view.
Using the choreographer's irony, questioning false myths, customs, or social beliefs that belong to her and her generation, trying to determine a complex body inspired by the robotic movements, AI and social media interaction body, constantly changing and evolving, making this circular space shared with the audience, a ritual of close relational exchange between bodies and virtual objects.
What creates a collective imaginary above people, above countries? What remains individual, personal?
